Hello dear reader,

As you probably know, the televised Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was on a few nights ago. This was the first time I’d ever watched it, and I must say, it was spectacular.

When I was younger I thought that the VS Fashion Show was a horrible event created by men so that they could openly gawk at pretty girls in push-up bras.

As I got older, I became somewhat neutral. I love Victoria’s Secret, but I didn’t care about the Angels or the fashion show.

But this year, as I watched the Angels strut down the runway, I realized that those girls are doing more for feminism than I ever realized.

The Angels are gorgeous girls, yes, but there are gorgeous girls everywhere. It’s their complete love of their bodies that makes them special. At this point, dear reader, you may be thinking something along the lines of Well obviously it’s easy to love your body when you’re a size 0 and a DD!

And that may be true, but it’s the way they love their bodies. They work out 7 days a week so that they can be flawless, yes it’s part of the job, but if they didn’t want to look like that, they wouldn’t be Angels. And they’re real about it! They have no shame in saying they work out every day or that they love sweating. They’re teaching girls and women all over the world that working out and being in shape is so much sexier than not eating.

These ladies love their bodies and are comfortable in their own skin. They’re confident enough to go out in front of the whole world in lingerie with huge smiles.

But they’re not out there to show off their six pack, or to be sex icons. They’re out there because they really love what they do and it empowers them.

None of the girls are “Catty” and i have never heard of any kind of conflict between the Angels. They’re not competing over who gets to wear the prestigious Fantasy Bra or who is the fan favorite. The Angel club is an extremely supportive girl squad, and in the end that’s all this world needs. A little less girl on girl crime, and a little more unity for the females.

The VS show could have easily turned into the perviest show. But it’s not. It’s an event about loving your body, gorgeous costumes, and stellar music. (I mean lets be real, Selena Gomez absolutely slayed.) Sure, some guy out there probably tuned in just wanting to see girls in little lacy things, but that was not the main point. The main point is not to make them glorified strippers, instead VS has turned these Angels into something else. Something larger than the average super model.
Earning those covetted wings is what every super model and most girls dream about. Sure they’re walking around in thongs and push-up bras, but it doesn’t feel dirty, it doesn’t feel scandalous, it’s empowering to see women, who have worked so hard for their body, being proud of themselves and laughing, smiling, blowing kisses to the audience. It’s empowering to see these lovely ladies loving themselves and each other, while they look like actual goddesses.

These super models are the sexiest women on the planet, and they model the hottest clothes on the biggest runway in the world. They’re Angels.

So until next time,

Stay Salty
